Family Involvement

We also understand that families of children entering adolescent residential treatment programs frequently need both emotional and logistical support as they deal with the stresses associated with having a child who requires this level of care. Our staff members will ensure your family is:

  • Made a partner in your child’s treatment;
  • Supported during the residential treatment of your adolescent;
  • Kept constantly informed about your child’s progress;
  • Offered education about effective parenting; and
  • Given access to family-system interventions, if needed.

Your family’s involvement in treatment will help your troubled teen develop personal responsibility and self worth, will improve family relationships, and will improve the likelihood of long-term success.

You are encouraged to be an active participant in the treatment of your troubled teen, which includes:

  • Participation in treatment planning.
  • Frequent communication with your child.
  • Participation in any scheduled supplemental family activities (e.g., family group conferences, family weekends).
Home Visits: Home visits provide your child with opportunities to practice transferring the skills he or she has learned from the program into your family and community environment.

Family Goals: We ask that you and your family think about what goals you want for your family. Consider how you want your family to change while your child is in the residential program. Changes your child makes in our adolescent treatment program will be supported and sustained if the family unit is able to change as well.
