Supporting a Successful Transition and Continued Progress for Your Child

Eckerd Academy’s Aftercare Program is an eight-week support program designed to assist both the student and parent(s) during the initial transition period to the home environment.

Essential Support For The Most Critical Transition Period
Our program has a remarkable success rate because of the structure, routines, goal setting and evaluations that we provide your child, as well as the clear expectations that are set for him or her. Our Aftercare Program helps parents provide their children with the best possible environment for continued success, and helps students apply the self-discipline and skills they have learned.

Both parents and young people will receive information and support that help ease the transition back home and guide the momentum of positive changes within the family.

The Aftercare Program consists of weekly telephone coaching and consultations for the parent(s) and child, as well as e-mail support for eight consecutive weeks, by James Morton, Aftercare Counselor. The phone calls will sometimes occur with everyone on the line together, and sometimes one-on-one.

Follow-up
In addition, we follow up with families at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after your child has graduated from our program. At that time, we will contact you to ask about home, school, counseling, youth employment and other topics. This information helps us to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of our program.
