A Proud History of Providing Second Chances.
Eckerd Academy is a program of Eckerd, a national nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to helping kids succeed since 1968. Through a full continuum of behavioral health and child welfare services nationwide, Eckerd has given more than 100,000 young people a second chance, along with hope for a brighter future.
Eckerd is one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit providers of services for youth at risk.
The Eckerd philosophy then and now: In a nurturing, caring environment youth at risk learn how to re-direct their behavior, take responsibility for their choices, and develop the skills to become productive, successful citizens.
Jack and Ruth Eckerd believed that each child is valuable and a treasure in this world, and that every child deserves a chance to succeed. For more than 40 years, that vision has guided the efforts of everyone involved in the work of Eckerd’s many services for troubled youths. Eckerd now provides a multi-faceted continuum of care ranging from prevention and early childhood intervention to youth residential treatment and community aftercare.
